YEAR 2012

ST Electronics embarks on more in-depth Research and Development (R&D) activities in Smart Utilities solutions and technologies with the support of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). The Smart Utilities R&D will focus on enhancing smart resource management, distribution and consumption management of utilities (electricity, water and gas). This includes the provision of robust and converged multi-utility network infrastructure to facilitate integrated electricity, water and gas management.

A consortium led by ST Electronics was awarded a RMB198m (about S$39m) contract in the city of Wuxi, China. Partnering Jiangsu Daway Technologies Co., Ltd, ST Electronics will supply, deliver, install, test and commission as well as provide warranty for an Integrated Supervisory Control System for Wuxi Metro Lines 1 and 2.

ST Electronics was awarded a contract by VGI Global Media Public Company Limited to supply half height platform screen doors for the BTS SkyTrain in Bangkok, Thailand. The S$13m contract includes two-year maintenance services of the doors, which will be installed in nine BTS Skytrain stations.

ST Electronics was awarded a S$98m contract from Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) to enhance the Expressway Monitoring & Advisory System (EMAS) equipment along eight expressways in Singapore.

Antycip Simulation Ltd, a subsidiary of ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems) Pte Ltd, has been selected by SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica Company, as a distributor to manage sales and front-line relations in Europe of its software toolkit, Mars, Multimode Airborne Radar Simulator, a software tool which provides a realtime computer simulation of the principal A/G and A/A radar modes of modern airborne pulse-Doppler radars.

YahService, the end-to-end managed satellite solutions division of Al Yah Satellite Communications Company PrJSC (Yahsat), has launched a new VSAT service based on the iDirect Evolution Platform. With this, YahService will be able to satisfy the growing customer demand to offer “cloud” services, including, but not limited to, voice, video and data applications across Africa and the Middle East.

Marlink, one of the largest maritime VSAT network operators, has upgraded its global service with the integration of iDirect’s Evolution® X5 Satellite Router and latest operating software release, iDX 3.0.

ST Electronics, as part of a consortium was awarded a contract by Singapore's Land Transport Authority to design, supply, test and commission the onboard equipment for the additional 16 trains of the Circle Line for its Mass Rapid Transit, Contract 830B Electrical & Mechanical Systems. ST Electronics' contract is valued at about S$27m and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.

The DigiSAFE DiskCrypt Mobile was also awarded this honour in 2010. ST Electronics wins a communications system contract for the Taichung City LRT CJ900/CJ907 Wuri-Wenxin Beitun Line (Green Line) in Taiwan.

ST Electronics, together with ST Marine has been awarded a contract to carry out upgrading works on the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN)'s Landing Ship Tanks (LSTs). The LSTs were delivered to the RSN in 1999. The upgrading works will cover modifications to the platform, as well as upgrades to the combat systems and helicopter support facilities.

YEAR 2011

The Air Traffic Operations Laboratory (ATOL) at NASA Langley has chosen the MÄK Run Time Infrastructure (RTI to implement High Level Architecture (HLA) in its Air Traffic Management (ATM) simulations. This HLA network will help create a realistic air traffic simulation environment by linking together over 500 individual flight simulators.
