Singapore, 5 July 2012 – Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering) today announced that its electronics sector, Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics), has won new contracts for its rail electronics, traffic management and satellite communications (satcom) and sensor solutions worth about S$210m in 2Q2012.  This included the S$98m contract from Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) to enhance the Expressway Monitoring & Advisory System (EMAS) equipment along eight expressways in Singapore which was announced in April 2012.

Building on its track record for electronics rail business, ST Electronics was awarded a S$31.6m contract by Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) for the Tuas West Extension.  This extension is a 7.5km mass rapid transit line, with four aboveground stations and one train depot.  ST Electronics will supply, deliver, install, test, commission and provide warranty for a communications system.  Work on the project started in May 2012 and is expected to be completed by 2016.

For its satcom business, ST Electronics together with its related US company, VT iDirect, secured contracts worth about S$80m to provide satcom systems to local and international customers.  These were for the provision of network infrastructure and support services, satcom solutions, hubs and routers, the supply of satellite earth stations and its latest range of one of the world’s smallest and lightest Agilis VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) products.

Outside of the S$210m, ST Electronics also secured new contracts for its AgilFence PIDS (Perimeter Intrusion Detection System) from other local customers.  The AgilFence PIDS was launched in 2011 when the Changi Airport Group announced its decision to install the AgilFence PIDS for ChangiAirport’s perimeter fence.  In the area of simulation training and related maintenance services, the company will provide and manage the training services for the ATR (Avions de Transport Régional) Training Centre located in Seletar Aerospace Park in Singapore.  ATR is a French-Italian aircraft manufacturer headquartered on the grounds of Toulouse Blagnac International Airport in Blagnac, France.

These contracts are not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year.
