ST Engineering Wins National Environment Agency Contract to Manage and Maintain Equipment for Tuas Marine Transfer Station and Semakau Landfill
Singapore, 27 January 2010 - ST Engineering today announced that ST Synthesis, its wholly owned subsidiary, has been awarded a three-year contract worth about S$6.5m by Singapore's National Environment Agency (NEA). The contract, which commences 1 March 2010, entails the provision of management, operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment for the Tuas Marine Transfer Station and Semakau Landfill.
The mechanical and electrical equipment includes diesel engine generators, transformers and switchgears, electrical distribution system, mechanical ventilation and air-conditioning systems as well as lightning protection system, earthing system and fire alarm, and detection and protection systems. Under the contract, ST Synthesis will also provide facilities management services for both the Tuas Marine Transfer Station and Semakau Landfill.
Semakau Landfill is an offshore landfill located 8 km off the southern coast of Singapore. Being Singapore's only landfill, the Semakau Landfill is part of the nation's sustainable solid waste management system. It has been carefully designed and managed to ensure a pleasant environment where the island's natural habitats and rich biodiversity are preserved. Tuas Marine Transfer Station serves as the collection point for ash from waste-to-energy plants and non-incinerable waste before these are transported to Semakau Landfill.
The contract award marks another milestone as ST Synthesis continues to establish its presence in providing facilities management services to key installations and major infrastructures.
"ST Synthesis is proud to be selected by the NEA to provide management, operation and maintenance services of essential mechanical and electrical equipment at both the Tuas Marine Transfer Station and Semakau Landfill. This contract award adds to our list of facilities management customers. We look forward to providing our expertise in managing Singapore's sustainable solid waste management system." ~ Goh Lik Kok, General Manager, ST Synthesis
ST Synthesis has a strong track record in managing security sensitive complexes, infrastructures, expressways and underground tunnels where safety, integrated, end-to-end operation and essential support capabilities on 24/7 basis are of paramount importance.
The contract is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year.
