A key highlight in ST Engineering’s Golden Jubilee celebrations was the ST Engineering 50th Anniversary Family Day. This was an event that was dedicated to our employees to thank them for their hard work and contributions. On 22 July 2017, more than 14,000 employees and their family members were treated to a day of fun at Palawan Green in Sentosa, Singapore.
On that day, Palawan Green was awash in a sea of red thanks to the presence of thousands of enthusiastic employees in their signature ST Engineering 50th Anniversary red polo T-shirts, with their loved ones in tow. Inside the marquee tent was a deluge of carnival games such as mini golf and snakes and ladders, snack stalls such serving ice-cream rolls and other delicious treats, activities for kids such as face painting, a doodle wall and photo booth for everyone to enjoy. Employees and their family members were kept entertained with a magic show, our very own "ST Engineering Idol" winners and roving performers. There were also celebrity appearances by Suhaimi Yusof, Jack Neo and cast members from the Ah Boys To Men 4 movie such as Apple Chan and Jaspers Lai!
The carnival atmosphere extended outdoors with a large bouncy castle for children, Zorb balls, rodeo bull rides and many other activities at the beach. Without a doubt, the highlight on the beach was the One ST Engineering tele-match where colleagues from our business sectors came together to pit their wits, agility and teamwork against each other in a series of friendly matches of human foosball, speed tag and other games.
It was also a day to celebrate the passion and caring hearts of our customers, partners and employees who helped raise $1.27 million for charities in Singapore through our Charity Golf in May and our Charity Draw over June and July. During the Family Day event, our Chairman, Mr Kwa Chong Seng, presented a S$1 million cheque to President Tony Tan as a donation to the President’s Challenge 2017. We also hosted about 50 children and youths from Boys’ Town, CampusImpact, Reach Community Services Society and TOUCH Community Services, some of whom had the chance to play some of the carnival games with President Tony Tan.
We also took this opportunity to thank 22 employees for their 40 years of service with the Group. In addition, we gave out dozens of lucky draw prizes and anniversary gifts to employees and family members.
This event, the biggest-ever gathering of employees, was a memorable day which brought out the camaraderie, passion and feeling of family togetherness within the entire extended ST Engineering family.
