A Slice of Singapore’s History - 50 years of Innovative Engineering Contributed by ST Engineering

Golden Jubilee Commemorative Book launched by DPM Teo Chee Hean

Singapore, 4 August 2017 – Launched in conjunction with ST Engineering’s 50th Anniversary, Engineering with Passion is a collection of stories of 50 years of innovative engineering across the Group’s businesses, alongside Singapore’s growth as a nation. Told from the perspective of the people of ST Engineering, this book exemplifies how the Singapore brand was established locally and overseas for world-class, innovative engineering-based solutions.

The book’s foreword is contributed by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and carries a message by Deputy Prime Minister & Coordinating Minister for National Security, Mr Teo Chee Hean. DPM Teo also launched the Golden Jubilee Commemorative Book on 4 August 2017 in conjunction with ST Engineering’s National Day Observance Ceremony 2017.

“ST Engineering has been 50 years in the making, alongside Singapore’s growth as a nation. This is why it is important that we capture this slice of Singapore’s history, along with our people’s stories of triumphs, how we surmounted setbacks, and our pioneers’ thinking behind the decisions that define ST Engineering today,” said Vincent Chong, President & CEO of ST Engineering. “Through this book, we also want our younger generation who aspire one day to become outstanding engineers, to be inspired and to accomplish even greater engineering heights.”

Engineering with Passion

ST Engineering has organised the stories in this Golden Jubilee Commemorative Book into seven chapters. Starting with the drive of “People and Purpose”, the book highlights the conviction of the “Ambitions and Aspirations” that have led to successful engineering solutions implemented both internationally and locally. It discusses the breadth of the “Solutions and Services” across multiple sectors, the rigour of “Standards and Systems” applied to get there, and the thoughtfulness of “Ideas and Innovations”. Finally, the book discusses the lessons learnt from global “Opportunities and Outcomes” and the Group’s commitment to “Nature and Nurture” – in talent development and in driving actions in a responsible and sustainable manner. These together form the acronym PASSION, which is the essence of ST Engineering’s theme for the Golden Jubilee, “Engineering with Passion”.

This Golden Jubilee Commemorative Book is a continuation of earlier chronicles, “Towards Tomorrow” and “Under One Sun”, published to celebrate Singapore Technologies’ 30th anniversary and ST Engineering’s 40th anniversary respectively.

24,000 copies of the complimentary commemorative book have been printed for ST Engineering staff and partners. The public can access hardcopies of the book at the National Library or an electronic copy of the book, which will soon be available on its corporate website at www.stengg.com.
