Aviation Academy of America, Inc. Announces the SG14 Graduating Class Completion of FAA and CAAS Commercial Pilot Training

Hondo, TX, 9 September, 2016 – Aviation Academy of America, Inc. presented commercial pilot certificates to the Singapore Student Group 14 at the graduation celebration held on 25 August, to commend their completion of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved commercial pilot license training.

This event was the culmination of the first class of commercial pilots who began their aeronautical theory training with ST Aerospace Academy in Singapore in 2014, followed by flight training at the Aviation Academy of America’s campus in Hondo, Texas.

The ceremony included honors for best pilot and best ground school score.  These highly trained graduates can now choose a career path to just about any pilot job they want.  The next step for some is a job flying to gain hours to become qualified to captain a plane for an airline.

“The students came to the US with 750 hours of ground school, and now these students are professional pilots who will continue their flight time requirements in Singapore, achieving their dream of flying for an airline,” said Paul Woessner, General Manager, Aviation Academy of America.  “This ceremony marks a significant milestone in the history of our academy, as this is the first class trained to the exacting standards of both the FAA and the CAAS in the US.  The students who just finished training here in Hondo did exceptionally well.”

The Aviation Academy of America was acquired in 2014 as a strategic intent for ST Engineering’s aerospace sector to grow its pilot training capacity and capabilities to support rising global demand. Marketed as part of ST Aerospace’s global network with an expanded footprint into the US, the Hondo-based academy works closely with the aerospace sector’s existing pilot training businesses in Singapore and Ballarat, Australia, to offer an integrated suite of pilot training services to customers around the world.

This business module includes coordinating efforts with regional airlines to support the local US students’ goal to work for a major airline, and to study aviation business online.  After these US students train for their commercial pilot licenses, they will become certified flight instructors, taking advantage the guaranteed job offer at the Aviation Academy of America, or moving on to other opportunities to gain the experience they need to become airline pilots.

VT AAA (Aviation Academy of America), a subsidiary of VT Systems, is a US FAA Part 141 approved flight school, offering an integrated suite of pilot training services to customers around the world.  VT AAA currently operates at the South Texas Regional Airport, located in Hondo, Texas.  The training is unique as it incorporates FAA requirements and international CAAS requirements, as part of the ST Aerospace Academy’s international ab initio pilot program.
