Improving Operational Efficiency, Enhancing Commuters’ Travelling Experience
Singapore, 19 October 2016 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) will debut its latest Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) Solution at the LTA-UITP Singapore International Transport Congress and Exhibition (SITCE) 2016. Ergonomically designed and engineered in-house, the new solution comprises the Interactive Traveller Terminal (ITT) and the Advance Fare Gate (AFG). The ITT and AFG have been designed to help operators optimise operational efficiency and resource utilisation while enabling commuters to enjoy a commuting experience that is time-efficient, seamless and dynamic.
The ITT is a one-stop interactive platform with full high definition video conferencing that serves as a live helpdesk which allows commuters to communicate with a remote operator for assistance. ITT also enables commuters to access value-added services such as ticket purchase and card value top-ups. In addition, the platform allows commuters to create a Personal Travel Account to facilitate hands-free facial recognition payment solution at the AFG. When not serving any commuters, the ITT can be programmed to screen advertisements thus generating additional revenue for the operator. An added feature of the ITT is the profiling of the commuter through facial recognition analytics of the consumer profiles for targeted advertising.
The sleek and intuitive AFG empowers operators to offer multiple payment choices to their commuters. With Smart Tag or Facial Recognition technology, a registered commuter walks through the entry and exit points without the hassle to tap. The AFG also caters to the technology-savvy commuters who embrace cashless payment methods such as credit cards, debit cards and the latest modes of mobile payment as well as traditional contactless Smart Card users.
“With constant R&D, ST Electronics continues to develop innovative solutions with the latest technology. Our rail and intelligent transport solutions help operators to harness relevant data to analyse and gain insights to improve operational efficiency and commuter travelling experience. The launch of the Interactive Traveller Terminal and the Advance Fare Gate is an indication of our ongoing efforts to deliver high quality, reliable and cost-effective solutions to a global customer base.” said Mr Lee Fook Sun, Deputy CEO & President, Defence Business of ST Engineering and President of ST Electronics.
In addition to AFG and ITT, ST Electronics will showcase its full breadth of Smart Metro and Intelligent Transport solutions, including Platform Screen Door (PSD) system, Passenger Information System (PIS), Command Control & Communication (C3) system, Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS), Connected Bus and Connected Bus Stop, Integrated Traffic Management & Enforcement System, Smart Analytics for Next Generation Taxi Fleet Management Solutions and Autonomous Vehicle Fleet Management & Evaluation System.
