Singapore, 06 December 2016 – Mr Lee Fook Sun, President of Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) and Deputy CEO & President, Defence Business of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering), has been conferred the esteemed Honorary Fellowship from the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (AFEO), in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the advancement of the engineering profession and accomplishments that have made profound impact to the industry.
A total of 34 Honorary Fellowships were awarded this year at the 34th AFEO Conference, held in Palawan, Philippines on 23 November 2016.

In order to stay relevant in the complex marketplace, we will continue to strengthen our engineering and technological capabilities.”
Mr Lee joined ST Electronics in 2000 and was appointed as President in 2009. Under Mr Lee’s leadership, ST Electronics has established globally competitive businesses in the areas of Intelligent Rail Transportation solutions and Satellite Communications. He believes in staying ahead of the curve and pushes for the incorporation of new technologies in the organisation’s products and solutions, which includes Cyber Security and Unmanned Systems.
In addition, with Mr Lee’s firm belief in pushing new boundaries in engineering technologies, ST Electronics has today established a proven track record of delivering industry-leading cutting-edge products that impact everyday life. One such example is the successful launch of TeLEOS-1, an earth observation satellite that is now orbiting around the earth. It is well suited for applications such as disaster and environment monitoring, maritime safety, coastal surveillance, urban planning and infrastructure management for smart cities.
Concurrent to his work in ST Engineering, Mr Lee serves as a Board of Director of Defence Science Organisation (DSO) National Laboratories. He also plays an active role in the development of a safe, high quality, sustainable and friendly built environment as the Chairman of the Singapore Building and Construction Authority (BCA).
An engineer by training with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Master of Arts (Engineering Science) from the University of Oxford (UK), Mr Lee has held various appointments in the private and public sectors throughout his career.
AFEO, a non-governmental body whose members are engineering institutions and organisations of ASEAN countries, recognises distinguished persons of acknowledged eminence who have rendered outstanding and meritorious services to the engineering profession, the institution or the nation through its Honorary Fellowships. The Honorary Fellowship recipients from Singapore had been nominated by the Institution of Engineers, Singapore - AFEO’s country representative for Singapore.
