Bouchard ATB Unit; M/V Kim M. Bouchard and B. No. 270, christened July 14, 2015, at the Port of New Orleans.
Pascagoula, Miss., July 14, 2015 — VT Halter Marine, Inc. (VT Halter Marine), a company of Vision Technologies Systems, Inc. (VT Systems) and Bouchard Transportation Co. announced the christening of M/V Kim M. Bouchard and B. No. 270, held at the Port of New Orleans in Louisiana on Tuesday, July 14, 2015.
M/V Kim M. Bouchard, part of the ATB Unit, was launched at the Moss Point Marine facility in Escatawpa, Mississippi, on February 26, 2015. B. No. 270 was launched at the Pascagoula Shipyard facility in Pascagoula, Mississippi, on Friday, May 1, 2015. Combined, this is the first ATB unit delivered to Bouchard Transportation Co., Inc. (Bouchard) as part of Bouchard’s major expansion program.
The B. No. 270 measures 628 feet by 91 feet by 47 feet, has a 260,000-barrel capacity, and is ABS and USCG certified for Jones Act service. M/V Kim M. Bouchard is a 10,000hp twin screw ATB tug and is classed by ABS as XA1 Towing Vessel, Dual Mode ATB, USCG Subchapter M, and is equipped with Intercon Coupler System.
Monsignor James Vlaun provided the invocation, blessing the tug and barge. The traditional bottle of champagne was broken over the hull of the tug by Mrs. Marie Romais, wife of Dimitri Romais, the Chartering Manager of SeaRiver Maritime, naming the vessel, "Kim Bouchard." The new ATB Unit and her crew sailed down the Mississippi River after the ceremony bound for Houston under charter with ExxonMobil.

The unit will be used to transport liquid petroleum for Bouchard Transportation Co., Inc. Sister unit, M/V Donna J. Bouchard and B. No. 272 is also currently under construction at VT Halter Marine.
