Pensacola, FL., October 28, 2021 – In continued support of the local community and aviation industry in Escambia County, Florida, ST Engineering today announced the expansion of the Pensacola Mayor’s Scholarship, from four to eight recipients each year starting 2022. Successful applicants of the scholarship will receive US$2,500 each, to be used in support of their education in an aviation-related post-secondary program. The scholarship will be awarded based on the applicant’s academic performance and financial needs.

“It is critically important to continue to foster young talent in the aviation industry in Pensacola, and to do whatever we can to encourage that talent to stay local,” said Grover Robinson, Mayor of the City of Pensacola. “I’m excited to partner with ST Engineering to expand this scholarship program and help even more students pursue their education and careers in the aviation industry as it continues to grow right here in the City of Pensacola.”

Jeffrey Lam, Commercial Aerospace President, ST Engineering, said, “The expansion of the Pensacola Mayor’s Scholarship reinforces ST Engineering’s commitment to build Pensacola’s aviation workforce and grow together with the local community. There is no better way to invest in a community than to invest in its people. The scholarship will continue to complements many existing initiatives by ST Engineering and the City of Pensacola to build a strong talent pool that can contribute to the growing success of the local aviation sector.”

The Pensacola Mayor’s Scholarship, first started in 2019, is among the many initiatives by ST Engineering to support the growth of the Northwest Florida aviation workforce.  In addition to this scholarship, ST Engineering contributes to the growth of the talent pipeline in the greater Pensacola area by instituting training programs such as the Airman Training Program, Aviation Maintenance Training Program, Aircraft Maintenance Pathway Program, and Structures and Interior Internships that provide paid on-the-job training to job seekers.

The expansion of the Pensacola Mayor’s Scholarship comes on the heels of the launch of a joint skills progression training program with UPS that was announced earlier this month. The joint program provides its participants a career pathway in aviation MRO and employment opportunities with UPS as early as three years upon graduation.
