ST Engineering’s Vietnam Competency Centre (VCC) in Ho Chi Minh City plays a critical role in supporting our global growth, with shared services in IT, Finance, Procurement, and Risk & Assurance. Through the centre, we enhance our operational scale, gain unique cultural perspectives, and tap into a wealth of diverse expertise. 

At VCC, Assistant Principal Engineer Doan Khue, Digital Systems, is driving change in healthcare technology. He shares his journey of working across borders, making an impact in creating digital health solutions, and gaining global exposure for his career.

Q: Tell us what you do at VCC.

Under the Digital Systems business, I develop software for AGIL® Care, which transforms hospital operations. I also manage team resources and organise initiatives like training courses, offline classes, and a mentoring buddy programme. Beyond just lines of code, I now work alongside people and organisations, which has been very meaningful and enjoyable.

Q: How does your work address real-world problems?

AGIL Care boosts hospital efficiency, connecting systems to provide a comprehensive view of hospital health and continuously monitor data to detect critical issues. Its AI assistant, AGIL® GenieBot, provides actionable recommendations, enabling swift and informed decisions. It’s rewarding to know our technology supports healthcare professionals and public health.

Q: How are you integrating AI and GenAI at work?

We actively integrate AI and GenAI into our products to enhance user experience and reduce incident response time. Tools like Codeium improve our productivity by providing precise code completion, generating meaningful tests, and giving quick answers to technical issues. They also offer additional insights needed to tackle complex projects with greater efficiency.

Q: What’s it like collaborating with ST Engineering teams across the globe?

Most of the technical requirements and designs come from management teams in Singapore, who work with customers on-site. Our development teams in Vietnam then propose best practices, discuss possible adaptations, and bring the software to life.

At VCC, we see ourselves as part of one global ST Engineering team. Whether we are developers, IT support or finance staff, we all have a role in contributing to the Group’s success. Collaborating with our Singapore headquarters and offices worldwide allows us to make a real impact, and I enjoy being part of a cross-border team, constantly learning from different communication and work styles.
