Zelia Tan, pursuing a Cyber & Network Security course, at ITE in Singapore, shares how you can get the most out of your internship with us.
Q: What drew you to apply for ST Engineering internship, and what type of exposure or learning experience did you gain during the internship?
I was encouraged by my lecturer to apply for this internship. I joined ST Engineering’s Security Operations Centre team, where I explored a wide range of Cybersecurity functions, from vulnerability testing to digital forensic research.
Q: Tell us about a memorable project. What did you learn from that experience?
I was initially daunted by the task of monitoring web alerts and managing escalation tickets. However, through the guidance of my supervisor, I gradually built confidence and mastered the ticketing platform, learning how to communicate effectively with customers and resolve issues independently.
Q: How has your internship with ST Engineering helped you grow professionally or personally?
The hands-on experience with industry tools has given me exposure to current industry practices and taught me valuable skills in task prioritisation. Personally, meaningful networking opportunities within the company allowed me to expand my professional connections and gain insights from experienced colleagues.
Q: What surprised you the most about the working culture or environment at ST Engineering?
I enjoyed the balanced work culture at ST Engineering, where individual accountability is complemented by team bonding activities that foster connection across departments.
