Bajamonde Miguel Santiago, pursuing a Cyber Security & Digital Forensics course at Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore, shares his internship experience.
Q: What drew you to apply for this internship, and how did it align with your interests or goals?
I researched about ST Engineering and discovered that its focus on innovation would offer the breadth and depth to explore my evolving interest in emerging technologies like AI. In order to secure an internship with the organisation, I made sure to apply early.
Q: Tell us about a memorable project. What you learn from that experience?
I tackled a technical challenge while wiring the user interface for an AI project, learning that even small oversights, like a wrong port number, can lead to major delays. This experience sharpened my attention to detail and reinforced the value of checking the basics first.
Q: How has your internship with ST Engineering helped you grow professionally or personally?
While I was in school, I did not always structure my day or break tasks into smaller goals, which sometimes made it hard to stay focused. From my internship experience, I have learned that setting very specific tasks or sub-tasks for the day makes me more consistent and productive. It also gives me a stronger sense of control over how my time is spent.
Q: What surprised you the most about the working culture or environment at ST Engineering?
I was pleasantly surprised by the peaceful and well-designed office environment at Jurong, especially enjoying the Urban Botanical spaces as a refreshing midday escape.
Q: What advice would you give to future interns embarking on an internship?
Set clear goals before starting and revisit them regularly, using them as a guide to seek support and stay aligned with your growth journey.
