Advancing UAS Innovation Through Real-World Applications

Advancing UAS Innovation Through Real-World Applications

At ST Engineering, we harness smart technology and innovation to deliver real-world impact. DroNet is a prime example—a turnkey unmanned aircraft system (UAS) solution that combines AI and automation to unlock new possibilities for how people live and work.

As the first full-suite UAS solution approved for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations in Singapore, DroNet enables a wide range of city-wide applications, from facility and perimeter security to site inspections, deliveries and more.

What’s In the Package

An unmanned aircraft-agnostic operating platform, DroNet can integrate multi-function UAS networks, incorporating the latest smart technologies such as real-time visual imaging analytics and Generative AI to process video feeds and convert data into actionable insights.

Serving as the brain of the DroNet system, DroHub is a proprietary command and control hub that makes simultaneous control of multiple unmanned aircraft possible. It has click-and-fly waypoint marking and automated route planning capabilities to enable autonomous operations, while making them smarter with geo-fencing and obstacle avoidance capabilities.

These operations can be dramatically extended with DroPort, an independent, all-weather docking and charging station. DroPort can be deployed in harsh environments to house unmanned aircraft, with the ability to conduct battery and payload swapping to ensure mission continuity.

Unmanned air system

At all times, operators can manage and monitor deployed unmanned aircraft through the intelligent, web-based DroConnect portal, with real-time operational statuses, live video stream and AI-powered data analytics at their fingertips. This enables them to immediately detect potential issues and threats in no time, reducing reliance on ground patrols.

DroNet’s end users can also make use of REVIDA, an AI tool co-developed with ST Engineering’s Group Engineering Centre. REVIDA optimises machine learning by automating the AI model training and deployment process, allowing for accuracy and reliability to be achieved more quickly. By integrating REVIDA into DroNet, end users can customise their AI models according to their operational context, resulting in efficient monitoring and management of deployed AI models for UAS operations.

Evolving Through Real-World Collaboration

Our UAS journey is built on commercialised operations with partners to continuously explore, validate and refine realistic use cases for DroNet. By partnering end users from the public and private sectors, we have been instrumental in deepening our understanding of operational needs across different industries, while laying a strong foundation for the safe and effective deployment of UAS technologies at scale.

Today, DroNet has evolved into a proven solution supporting a wide range of applications. It has been deployed to deliver food, cash payments and critical medical supplies, conduct infrastructure inspections and support water quality monitoring at Singapore’s reservoirs.

Each deployment provides valuable insights that drive further improvements in our technology, operations and integration with existing workflows — ensuring DroNet remains a trusted enabler of efficiency, safety and sustainability across industries.

Scaling New Heights with Higher-performing Unmanned Aircraft

To meet the growing demands of increasingly complex and wide-ranging applications , we continuously advance our proprietary DrN-series unmanned aircraft by enhancing their endurance, payload capacity and reliability. Having started with short-range and lighter-payload missions such as parcel and document deliveries, DroNet is now being extended to support use cases that demand longer flight durations, greater payload versatility and robust fail-safe redundancies.

Our latest additions, the DrN-40 and DrN-25, reflect this commitment to innovation. The DrN-40 is a fixed-wing UAS designed for long-range logistics and surveillance operations. With vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capability and a maximum range of 90km, it delivers reliable performance even in challenging environments.

The DrN-25, on the other hand, is purpose-built to replace manual inspections in remote or hard-to-reach locations with a more sustainable and cost-effective alternative. With a flight time of up to 90 minutes, it supports extended aerial inspections without interruption. Powered by DroNet’s machine learning and smart video analytics, it can automatically detect defects, streamline inspection workflows and improve reporting accuracy—enabling maintenance teams to identify and address issues early while reducing the need for high-risk work at height, such as for power line infrastructure.

Redefining the Future

Autonomous technologies such as UAS are poised to become an integral part of tomorrow’s ecosystems — reshaping how industries operate, how communities are served and how we connect with our environment. As these technologies mature, the focus will increasingly shift from experimentation to profitable operations, where reliability, safety and scalability will determine real-world success. At ST Engineering, we continue to advance our UAS capabilities with this in mind — developing solutions that not only meet operational needs today but also anticipate the evolving demands of a more connected, data-driven world.
