Board Changes

Singapore, 26 July 2021 - Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering) today announced the following board changes effective 1 August 2021:

  1. Appointment of Mr Teo Ming Kian as independent non-executive Director
  2. Appointment of Mr Tan Peng Yam as non-independent non-executive Director
  3. Resignation of Mr Quek Gim Pew as non-independent non-executive Director

Mr Teo Ming Kian, 69, is the Chairman of Vertex Venture Holdings Ltd and concurrently a non-executive director of Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited and of other technology startups and non-profits organisation. Before he retired from the Singapore Civil Service, he was the Permanent Secretary and Executive Chairman for several Singapore government ministries and agencies. Mr Teo holds a Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Honours) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Monash University in Australia and Master of Science degree in Management Studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr Teo is also a Fellow of the Singapore Academy of Engineering. 

Mr Tan Peng Yam, 63, is the Chief Defence Scientist of Singapore Ministry of Defence (CDS) since 15 May 2021. Mr Tan joined the Defence Science Organisation in 1983 and has held various defence positions in the Ministry of Defence (“Mindef”), including Chief Executive of Defence Science and Technology Agency. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) from the University of Tasmania, Australia.

Mr Quek Gim Pew joined the Board in August 2016 and during his term, served as Chairman of the Research, Development and Technology Committee, and a member of the Risk and Sustainability Committee. Mr Quek’s resignation follows his stepping down as the CDS, and his appointment as Senior R&D Consultant, Mindef.

The Chairman and Board of Directors would like to acknowledge their deep appreciation to Mr Quek for his invaluable contributions to the Board and the Board Committees that he had served, and welcome both Mr Teo and Mr Tan to the Board.
