Singapore, 27 May 2025 - ST Engineering and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) jointly announced the launch of a new programme to enhance cyber resilience and cybersecurity awareness of Singapore’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Unveiled by Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information, Mr Tan Kiat How, at the ATxEnterprise — an Asia Tech x Singapore (ATxSG) event held today, the SME CyberResilience programme supports the Digital Enterprise Blueprint[1] ambition to equip SMEs to be safer through improved cyber resilience and power the next bound of digitalisation among enterprises in Singapore.
The SME CyberResilience programme led by ST Engineering’s Cyber business will enable up to 2,000 SMEs to receive a complimentary Cyber Threat Scanning service and expert guidance to help them stay ahead of evolving threats.
Rising Cyber Threats Facing Singapore SMEs
According to the Singapore Cyber Health Report[2] by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, 80% of Singapore businesses experience breaches annually—and among them, 99% suffer business impact. For these businesses, limited resources and a lack of in-house cybersecurity expertise make it especially challenging to manage these risks effectively. With SMEs making up 99% of enterprises[3] and forming a critical part of Singapore’s supply chain ecosystem, strengthening their cybersecurity awareness and capabilities is essential to safeguard the nation’s broader digital economy.
“Through the various initiatives like those offered under the SME CyberResilience programme, we are supporting SMEs in improving their cyber posture as part of our broader mission to fortify the entire ecosystem. We will continue to explore new initiatives and partnerships to help SMEs safeguard against evolving cyber threats,” said Mr Goh Eng Choon, President of Cyber, ST Engineering.
The SME CyberResilience programme includes:
Interested SMEs can visit IMDA’s CTO-as-a-Service platform to sign up for complimentary Cyber Threat Scanning service and upcoming workshops.
These initiatives are designed to equip businesses with practical knowledge and tools to identify cyber risks, adopt stronger cyber hygiene practices, and enhance their overall security posture to better prevent cyberattacks.
Mr Johnson Poh, Assistant Chief Executive, Sectoral Transformation Group, IMDA, added, “Cybersecurity is important not just for large corporations; it is also an essential foundation for the survival and success of our SMEs in today's digital economy. It is crucial that SMEs remain resilient against the growing cyber threats we face. IMDA is pleased to collaborate with ST Engineering to strengthen the cyber awareness and defence of our SMEs. This partnership exemplifies the collective effort needed to safeguard the digital future of SMEs and empower them to thrive in the digital economy.”
A Long-Term Commitment to SME Cybersecurity
ST Engineering has been actively championing efforts to raise awareness among its enterprise customers about the importance of identifying and managing supply chain risks.
Recognising the critical role SMEs have in the economy, the SME CyberResilience programme will continuously explore new avenues to support their cybersecurity journey. This strategic commitment aims to enhance not only individual businesses but also the resilience of Singapore’s broader digital and economic ecosystem.
