ST Engineering Secures MINDEF Contract for Next Gen Infantry Fighting Vehicles

Singapore, 26 January 2026 – ST Engineering announced today that its Land Systems business had been awarded a contract by the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) in December 2025 for the production and supply of the next generation Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs). This milestone underscores ST Engineering’s leadership in delivering advanced defence solutions to meet evolving operational needs.

The IFVs, scheduled for progressive delivery from 2028 onwards, will be based on ST Engineering’s Terrex s5, the latest addition to the Group’s family of 8x8 armoured fighting platforms. Designed for future-ready operations, the Terrex s5’s capabilities are designed around five core pillars - Smartness, Superiority, Sustainability, Survivability and Serviceability.

Built on the proven lineage of the Terrex family of IFVs, the vehicle offers cutting-edge capabilities, including:

  • Digitalised systems for enhanced situational awareness and operational efficiency
  • Cyber-secure Generic Vehicle Architecture providing robust protection against cyber threats
  • Advanced vehicle electronics and enhanced firepower

ST Engineering will also be partnering MINDEF and the Defence Science and Technology Agency to integrate additional capabilities into the IFVs.

This next-generation platform represents a significant leap in land defence technology, combining superior mobility, lethal firepower and advanced survivability to meet the demands of modern warfare.

“MINDEF’s selection of the Terrex s5 as its next generation IFV reaffirms our ability in designing and building advanced armoured mobility platforms. With our multi-domain expertise and engineering depth, we are confident that the new IFV will deliver outstanding mobility, advanced smart technologies and unmatched adaptability to support Singapore’s future fighting force,” said Lim Kok Ann, President of Land Systems business at ST Engineering.

“As we continue to innovate and address the evolving needs of the modern armed forces, the Terrex s5 will strengthen our portfolio of integrated defence offerings for nations seeking proven and robust solutions to expand their national defence capabilities,” he adds.
