ST Engineering Selected to Provide Turnkey Rail Services for Taoyuan MRT Green Line Extension

Singapore, 26 August 2026 – ST Engineering today announced that the Taoyuan City Government has awarded its Urban Solutions business a $750m turnkey rail services contract for the Taoyuan MRT Green Line Extension, further strengthening its position in Taiwan’s rail sector. Secured in August 2026, this is part of a broader contract with consortium partner Hyundai Rotem.

ST Engineering will lead overall project management and systems integration, and provide a suite of rail electronics solutions including supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), communications system, automatic fare collection system and platform screen doors. Its consortium partner, Hyundai Rotem, will provide the power supply system and rolling stock. ST Engineering will also work with its partners to oversee the integration and delivery of key project components, including signalling, depot equipment and track works. Project execution is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026 and will be delivered over seven years.

“This win reflects our customer’s confidence in our ability to deliver large-scale rail infrastructure programmes, underpinned by our longstanding commitment to supporting Taiwan’s rail development. We appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the Taoyuan MRT Green Line Extension and will draw on our experience and strong local expertise to ensure a smooth execution,” said Gareth Tang, President, Urban Solutions, ST Engineering.

Comprising five stations, the 7.2km Taoyuan MRT Green Line Extension forms part of Taoyuan's broader rail development plans to enhance connectivity across the city. The extension will improve access to major residential, commercial and transport hubs and enable connections with Taiwan’s wider rail network when completed.

This contract adds to ST Engineering’s ongoing delivery of rail electronics solutions for the Taoyuan MRT Green Line.
