Shaping the Future of Technology

Kia Siang Chye, Head of IT at ST Engineering North America, prioritizes IT standardization and digital transformation, envisioning the company as a leader in AI, machine learning, and cloud innovation while fostering collaboration and adaptability. 

Q: Can you share your career journey and a little bit about yourself?

I have over 30 years of experience in the IT industry, having worked in various roles that have allowed me to develop a diverse skill set. I started my career as an IT Infrastructure support engineer and gradually moved into leadership positions. 

Q: What do you think about the company, and what energizes you about it? 

ST Engineering is a forward-thinking company that values innovation and collaboration. What energizes me the most is the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that have a real impact on our clients and the industry. I am especially excited about the company’s drive to leverage AI. 

Q: What do you see as the biggest accomplishments since you assumed your position? 

One of the biggest accomplishments since I assumed my position has been the successful implementation of Prisma Access across some of the commercial business units. This project is critical because it allowed seamless network connectivity between U.S. business units and our global team and paved the path for the successful implementation of Finance and HR shared services.  

Q: What have been the biggest learnings about yourself or the different businesses since you joined the organisation?  

I have learned the importance of adaptability and continuous learning. Working with different business units has given me a broader perspective on the industry and has helped me develop a more comprehensive approach to problem-solving.  

Q: Have you overseen a cultural change to drive innovation?

I spent three years leading teams in Qatar, and more than six years in the U.S., to learn and appreciate different cultures in other organizations. Having regular workshops between my team and our global headquarters helped bridge cultural gaps and sparked new ideas by combining diverse perspectives, significantly boosting our innovation and team cohesion.

 Q: Interesting/fun fact about you. What do you like to do outside of work?

I am a father of two wonderful boys and the husband of a lovely wife. I have a passion for sports, especially badminton, which I used to play regularly until I joined ST Engineering North America. Unfortunately, finding opportunities to play badminton has been challenging since then, but I still enjoy staying active and exploring new activities. As a family, we love to travel and go on road trips when we are in the U.S.
