Singapore, 15 February 2024 - ST Engineering today announced that its Urban Solutions business has launched AGIL® Smart Energy Building, a next-generation suite of smart energy solutions that enables building owners to take a whole-of-building approach in energy optimisation to achieve total energy savings of up to 25 per cent , accelerating building decarbonisation.

Powered by IoT, Artificial Intelligence, machine learning and automation, AGIL Smart Energy Building comprises an integrated suite of energy optimisation solutions for building cooling, energy recovery, lighting, building automation and GHG emissions tracking. Its cost-effective, modular and scalable design enables easy integration into brownfield and greenfield spaces, maximising energy efficiency and providing quick return of investment to building owners. AGIL Smart Energy Building can be scaled to cover multiple buildings within an estate or township, significantly aggregating energy savings.

“Today, many building owners face challenges in making their buildings more energy efficient because of the limitations or fragmentation of their existing subsystems. Applying our expertise in sensors, AI and sustainable cooling technology, we have developed a revolutionary approach to optimise energy use in buildings that harnesses energy savings from all sources. In particular, AGIL Smart Energy Building targets building cooling - a major source of electricity consumption - and delivers a more targeted and effective response to real-time cooling needs,” said Gareth Tang, Head, Smart Utilities and Infrastructure, Urban Solutions, ST Engineering.

Whole-of-Building Energy Optimisation
The AGIL Smart Energy Building suite of solutions comprises:

Smart HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning): Disparate HVAC equipment is unified on a single platform to integrate all data and controls. Sensors provide data on real-time building occupancy and cooling operations together with added intelligence such as external weather conditions, accurately measuring and predicting the building heat load. These data-driven insights enable more effective response to real-time cooling demand for energy efficiencies.

AI Airflow: Cooling is precisely and evenly distributed across the building with smart airflow adjustments powered by AI and sensors that provide real-time data on workspace environments and thermal comfort. Overcooling in unused areas is also reduced, contributing to energy efficiencies.

Energy Recovery: Leveraging ST Engineering’s patented REEVAC® Deep Cooling technology, residual cold energy is recovered from the building’s exhaust air and channelled to deeply pre-cool incoming fresh air without using refrigerants, compressors or the building’s chilled water. Energy consumption is reduced by up to 30 per cent compared to a conventional system, and cooled fresh air is delivered to the building to enhance air quality and indoor comfort.

Smart Lighting: Demand-based soft dimming and AI-based anticipatory lighting provides up to 50 per cent energy savings .

Carbon Monitoring: Round-the-clock monitoring of building operational data with energy usage analysis drives data-driven decisions, allowing energy efficiency measures to be taken. An ESG dashboard automatically tracks key ESG metrics and GHG emissions in real-time, facilitating reporting.

AGIL Smart Energy Building will be showcased at the Singapore Airshow, 20 - 25 February 2024, at the ST Engineering Pavilion (G01).
